“Then I realized, ‘Oh my God, I’m in the mouth of a whale and it’s trying to swallow me. That’s it, I’m going to die.'”
Packard said that at the time he thought of his wife and two sons, who are between 12 and 15 years old.
“And then suddenly the whale climbed to the surface, opened its mouth and started shaking its head,” he added.
He added, “He threw me in the air and I fell into the water. I became free and floated in the water. I couldn’t believe I survived… and that I am here now to tell you what happened.”
Then he noticed his fellow boatman, who was scanning the water for Pakkard guided by air bubbles from his oxygen machine, and pulled him to safety.
