A US Navy official told Reuters – today, Tuesday – that the aircraft carrier “USS Ronald Reagan” crossed the South China Sea, and is currently in the Philippine Sea, east of Taiwan and the Philippines and southern Japan.
The aircraft carrier stationed in Japan is working with the guided missile ship “Antietam” and the destroyer “Higgins”.
Chinese warnings
Politically, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said – today, Tuesday – that “the US side will bear the responsibility and pay the price if China’s sovereign security interests are affected.”
Hua accused the United States of using Taiwan as a card to contain China, and said that Washington had taken what it called provocative measures in cooperation with Taiwan.
She added that China reiterated its position rejecting Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan and hopes that the Americans realize the seriousness of this, warning that if Washington continues its path on the wrong path, Beijing will take steps that guarantee its sovereignty and interests, as she put it.
