A shocking surprise was waiting for a British woman who wanted to make her daughter happy on the occasion of Christmas, by giving her a laptop computer that she had bought from Amazon, when she opened the box to find corn flakes inside instead of the electronic device. Lizzie Pattison ordered the computer from e-commerce company Amazon in October to gift it to her 10-year-old daughter for Christmas. The woman kept the box hidden for about two months, until Wednesday, when she discovered that the package contained the “famous breakfast.” When she contacted Amazon, the company told her that the 30-day return period was finished.
After several attempts, Amazon accepted the refund request and returned the money to Pattison, along with £40 gift vouchers. The woman told the BBC: “My main concern is that there will be a number of children on Christmas morning who will open what their parents think is a tablet or laptop, only to find something else, because the parents did not open the box.”
Amazon is an American e-commerce company based in Seattle. She is one of the giants of the web. Founded by Jeff Bezos in July 1994, the company went public on the NASDAQ in May 1997.
The pricipal activity of the Amazon company was selling books, before the company turned to selling cultural products, then merchants. Today, some food products can also be ordered via Amazon.
